Hopeful at San Pedro Sula, Honduras
20" x 20" Original oil on canvas painting; 1.25" thick.
On one of my mother's trips to visit my sister in Honduras, she saw this lady selling fruits at a street corner. There was another lady on the opposite corner across the street also selling. Even though my mother noticed them arguing with each other, she went up to them and asked if she could take a photograph of them. They were a bit surprised and said no one had ever taken a photo of them before. Then she promised to give them a copy and they were delighted. This lady was the aggressive one.
Of course I truly enjoyed painting the two ladies, specially their facial expressions, and the street scenes.
